Construction of Taxiways, Aircraft Parking Stands & Associated Works at Budget Terminal, Singapore Changi Airport (ED/PJT/2010/21)

The project involved the construction of flexible and rigid aircraft pavement, new aircraft parking stands and other associated civil works at the Singapore Budget Terminal.

One key challenge during the construction of taxiway was to maintain undisrupted aircraft operation during the execution of works. An aircraft bridge designed to support the laden load of an A380 aircraft was also erected over an open drain.

All other associated works including open drain and grated U-drain system, guided boring works, cable ducting system, AFL system, floodlighting system and other related works for the construction of new aircraft stand were promptly completed before project handover.

Special Feature

For the first time, Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) was introduced for the construction of base course of aircraft pavement in Singapore Changi Airport. In this project, up to 50 % in total thickness of base course was laid with RCA.
