Samwoh takes top prize at E50 2010

For the second year running, Samwoh emerged top at the Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards 鈥?an award that recognizes enterprising local, privately-held companies who have contributed to economic development in Singapore and abroad. This also marks the first time a construction company has won the top position twice in a row.

The E50 Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation was held at the Resorts World Convention Centre on 3rd November, with Mrs. Lim Hwee Hwa, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, and Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Transport presenting the awards to the top ten winners.

On receiving the award, Mr. Elvin Koh, Managing Director of Samwoh Corporation said, "the Enterprise 50 award is testament to our company’s business acumen, business achievement and entrepreneurship of the management. The award recognizes Samwoh's commitment towards excellence and delivery of value to its customers and stakeholders."

The E50 Awards rank the top 50 companies, based on a weighted-average computation of a set of performance such as its financial growth, operating profit, turnover, and return on equity, among other indicators, as well as qualitative factors such as business model, productivity and innovations, management ideals and governance, knowledge initiatives, market branding and presence, and liquidity and risk management.

"We are really proud and honoured because the E50 is like an Oscar for the top 50 enterprising companies in Singapore. Winning the top position for two years consecutively is really meaningful," said Mr. Koh. "More importantly, it also affirms that our business strategy and management principles are heading in the right direction."

The E50 Awards were created in 1995. And since then, they have been viewed as a launch pad for a local listing. The Awards are supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, IE Singapore, SPRING Singapore and Singapore Business Federation. OCBC Bank is the sponsor.
