21 Jul 2012 - Team Samwoh supports SCALs Clean-A-Home Project

Team Samwoh cleans up a home for a good cause!

On the 21st of July, several Samwoh staff took time out from their busy work schedules to do something different: clean and paint a stranger's home.

In support of Singapore Contractors Association Limited (SCAL) 75th Anniverary Clean-a-Home Project, several volunteers from Samwoh formed a team to carry out cleaning, painting as well as minor repair activities for a home in Telok Blangah.

The whole-day event was kicked off by Mr Sam Tan, Member of Parliament for Radin Mas, and Dr Ho Nyok Yong, President of SCAL, with welcome speeches as well as a hands-on clean up at a home.

Team Samwoh went to the home of Mr Yeo to carry out cleaning as well as minor repair works for the first half of the day, as well as preparing the place for painting in the second half. After a lunch break, the team began the task of painting the walls white, as they had already yellowed with the passage of time.

At the end of the day, the homeowner, Mr Yeo had a big smile on his face as his home looked brighter and cheerier after the clean-and-paint job by Team Samwoh.

Although exhausted by their exertions, the volunteers were all smiles, knowing that they had managed to brighten up Mr Yeo's day. When asked about the thoughts and feelings of the team, Mr Mark Loh, Team Samwoh's leader had this to say:

"Something magical happens when you focus on helping someone else in need. All your own worries, fears, concerns and doubts just disappear. By forgetting all this, you are then free to discover the best part of yourself. By sincerely seeking to give value, you bring great value into your own life and the life of others around you."
