05 Sep 2011 - Samwoh named Green Champion at Singapore Compact CSR Awards 2011

Samwoh wins the Singapore Compact CSR Awards 2011: Green Champion Category

On 5th September, Samwoh became the Green Champion at the Singapore Compact CSR Awards 2011.

The Green Champion Award recognises the organisation with the best practice in minimizing environmental externalities and its ability to influence other stakeholders for the Green cause.

On receiving the award, Samwoh’s Managing Director, Elvin Koh said, "Many construction companies in Singapore are not really promoting green practices yet, so we want to let people know and understand more about the green sustainability construction. To us, we think this is a long-term and future business."

Guest of honour Minister in the Prime Minister's office S Iswaran said that CSR initiatives will take on added significance as the footprint of operation of Singapore-based companies grows regionally, while small and medium enterprises too can reap benefits.

Singapore Compact, the national organisation promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR), launched the Awards last year to recognise outstanding achievements in how companies behave towards the environment, the local community and their people. The Awards drew submissions from a range of organisations, including private corporations, social enterprises and co-operatives.

Samwoh adds this award to a growing list of green awards such as the Singapore Environmental Achievement Award and Outstanding Sustainability Award, which is testament to the sustainability approach Samwoh adopts in its businesses.
