Dr Ho Nyok Yong receives the BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Award - Green Innovator of the Year 2011.

On 19th May 2011, Dr. Ho Nyok Yong took centre stage at the BCA Awards Night 2011 when he received the inaugural BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Award (Green Innovator of the Year).

The Green Innovator Award is one of four Individual Awards given out this year. The four winners were selected from a total of 35 candidates, and these were assessed by a panel of judges led by CEO, BCA, Dr. John Keung and Er. Lee Chuan Seng, the immediate past chairman of SGBC.

As Samwoh's Technical Director, Dr. Ho Nyok Yong has led many ground-breaking research projects in the recycling of waste materials and development of green products. One such project was the use of recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) in structural concrete. The fruit of this innovative project was then applied in the construction of the Samwoh Eco-Green Building, the first building structure in the region to be constructed using concrete with up to 100% RCA.

Commenting on the new awards, Dr. John Keung said, "I would like to congratulate all the outstanding winners of the inaugural awards. They are role models in our industry and we certainly need more of such committed individuals to share their expertise with the industry, and to help push the green building movement in Singapore towards greater heights."

With the Green Innovator of the Year within its ranks, Samwoh will continue paving the way to a sustainable future for Singapore.
